Restorative Parenting Awareness Session

We’ve been listening to focus groups of parents and carers in the North West of England and there’s a clear demand for a short Restorative Parenting Awareness Session.  We’ve devised an introduction to restorative parenting, taken from our full ‘Parenting without Conflict’ programme (awarded the Department of Health’s CANparent Quality Mark) and our facilitators have been delivering this one hour session with groups of parents and carers; here are some of their comments:

“I am going to try to see things from my child’s point of view more often and delve a bit deeper into the reasons behind their behaviour.”

“I will definitely try to use more ‘emotional’ words to improve my communication.”

“I will try to think before I respond.”

Restorative Thinking is now offering the Restorative Parenting Awareness Sessions across the UK via a licensing agreement to Prisons and Probation Settings.  This includes:

  • One day training session for facilitators: an introduction to restorative principles and skills; observation of delivery/modelling of the restorative parenting awareness session.
  • All materials to deliver this session:  facilitator manual, posters, paper resources for parents/carers, power-point to aid delivery.
  • Evaluation forms for parents/carers to complete.
  • Wrap around support (e-mail, telephone) by the Restorative Thinking team.
